WoW: Worth it now?

I would'nt get into WOW m8, it sucks so much of your life away. I wish I never played it just one big waste of time.

£9pm has just made my mind up unfortunately.

Even it was the best game in the world i simply couldn't bring myself to paying £100 a year for it with so many outgoings ATM.

Thanks for the heads up though. :(

Guild Wars is your best bet for an online fantasy game without the monthly expense. I've seen the original GW go for a tenner in some places and that's all you pay for :)

But WoW is more involved and a more traditional style MMO so maybe giving the free trial a go will let you see if the £9 monthly fee is gonna be worth it. I played WoW for about 5 months total (went back to give TBC a look recently) and, like everything in life, moderation is the key....don't burn yourself out like some do, just play the odd hour or two here and there, maybe more on weekends and it can be a fun experience. I actually get into the lore and backstory of these games rather than think of them as a mad dash to max level. I'm a believer in 'the journey is more important/fun than getting to the actual destination' ;)

90% of people say this games extremely addictive, but I honestly don't see how  I actually bought it because of people saying it's addictive, I think it'd be great to get right into a game!

I've had the game for 5 months now, me and 3 of my friends bought it. None of us are addicted.

Only lvl 24 at the min, god knows how long it takes people to get to lvl 70! :p

Have you found your way out of the starting area? Level 24 after 5 months? Playing an hour a week?

I honestly don’t get this, its a GAME, get some self control, all this crap where I hear people whining about how wow ruined their life blah blah blah I’ve no friends now etc.. Just get a grip, I played wow for around 8-9 months and enjoyed it, it didn’t take over or infringe on any other aspect of my life, true it is a waste of time but then so is every other game.

Took me 10 Days, 15 hrs and 34 mins. :)

Oh and it was my Blood Elf Mage, very fun character to play, recommended!

Yeah the £9.99 is not great, but they send out free updates so often that you will never "complete" this game.

I used to buy about 2 games a month, I now buy 1 maybe every 6 months, complete it then go staright back to WoW.

It is easy to get addicted but then it is just a game, and as long as you remember that it will be fine. You either love this game or hate it, but I think the £9.99 they ask for each month is not to bad when you think about how much they put into it, there is a new pacth coming out now that will add so many things.

It is a bit like the Sims 2, EA release a update every couple of months for £20, you get just as much content from Blizzard if not more included in the monthly fee.

I'm not saying that it ruined my life, just found it very addictive maybe for you it didnt have the same effect but each to there own.

In the end yes it's a game and once you see through that you realise you are paying £10 a month on something that is pointless. Now the summer his here get your shorts on and get outside. :)

Any ideas what the new patch will include?

Of course i'm out the starting area! :p I'm at hillsbrad foot hills now! go me! I play a Blood Elf Rogue, they're kool! But by the looks of watching my friends play different characters, all the characters look fun ;P

WOW would be better if the PVP meant anything!
I'm a total sucker for trying the demos (14 day iirc) but get fed up when I do ANY PVP and realise that I'm not going to really lose anything from losing?!?!

World PvP means pretty much nothing (apart from the ability to show what an annoying plonker you can be by griefing people 50 levels lower than you in Hillsbrad), but the arena play is very competitive from what I gather. Fair enough you don't lose anything, but what do you actually lose when you lose an online fps or any other sort of game? You lose nothing, but people play hard so that they can get to the top. I prefer first person shooters to WoW PvP, but the rewards in WoW are at least more varied.
