At the moment I am using WEP on my wireless network. We have two laptops on the network and I would like to use WPA-PSK.
I have got it working fine with my laptop, but my brothers laptop doesn't seem to support WPA-PSK. I can only see WEP.
It is using Windows XP SP2 and I have updated the drivers for his wireless adapter on the linksys website (It's a Linksys WPC54G V.5.0) but I still can't see the WPA-PSK option in the Windows Wireless network software.

Here is a screenshot from MY laptop, you can see from the drop down menu WPA-PSK, on my brothers PC this is missing and I can only see "Open" or "Shared"...

Do you think it might need a firmware update for his adapter?
I have searched everywhere for the firmware for WPC54G V5 and can't find it anywhere, not even on the Linksys website...

WPA support is included in SP2, so it's either that the card doesn't support it and/or the card's drivers don't support it.

According to Znet, the card does support WPA and I have downloaded the latest drivers from the Linksys website, so I am clueless as to why I can't select it in Windows.

Did you install the 2nd MS Hotfix that Invasion suggested? You will need that to get the card working.

Thanks for the help.

I went back onto his computer and started to use the Linksys software instead of Windows wireless software.
I could see the option to use WPA-PSK in the linksys software and it seems to be working OK.
His signal seems to be all over the place though, going to "Low" to "Very Good" and back to "Low" sometimes even "No signal".
I'm so fed up I'm just going to wait until he is back from work and if he complain's then I will do something about it. :D
