hey guys,

Doing my test soon and going for a wr250x for work communiting

Will be riding with friends on the weekends with there rs125's ninja 250r etc

Whats the power of a wr250x like compared to the rs's etc

Have already orderd a full yoshimira exhaust and power commander and air filter just waitimg for the lad selling it to come back from holiday :D

So yeh, how well do you think the bike will perform with these parts?

Not too bad in terms of power, but appears to have the aerodynamics of a brick and the chassis dynamics of a marshmallow if the reviews are to be believed. The 250 Ninja will be quicker in a straight line and will lead through the bends as well. You may have an advantage off-road if you have knobblies on it...

Why not get a proper naked bike for commuting instead of a wannabe motorcross bike? e.g. MT-03 is better looking, better chassis, more power but is still good on fuel and low insurance group. You are wasting your time and money with a power commander and an exhaust, get with something that has a bit of go to start with.

DR350's and XR400 are very similar on the power output front, all around 31bhp. Surely looks are subjective and if somebody wants a dirt bike then that's up to them? :p

Dogbreath the X is a Supermoto.. They are just as much at home on tarmac as they are on dirt and in the case of the WRx, more so with it's plush setup.

Since buying a Supermoto, Sportsbikes just don't flick my switch like they used to.. Nearly 10,000 miles later and it never bores me.

Read the reviews, everything I've found says the WR250X suspension is pretty terrible on the road as it's far too soft and underdamped. The OP specifically asked how it would fair against his mates bikes, and the answer has to be "not very well".

If we went on rag reviews (i.e. MCN) I wouldn't have my SM.. And many more bikes that are loved by their owners would not exist on the road.

Here's some quotes from some forums you may or may not like:

"In my opinion any corner that can be taken under 100 mph can be pushed to its limits with the wrx".

"the wr250x is the MOST entertaining and smile inducing motorcycle I've ever riden" (R1 owner).

"I actually sold my 600 sportbike to get this little gem. To be honest, I've never looked back".

"it certainly isn't a slouch once you uncork it".

"It is delusional to think the wr's are going to have the acceleration of a 1L sportbike or the suspension of an offroad only race bike".

Seems to be plenty of people happy with them. The Power to weight ratio is better than the 250R, it's just the top end that'll be lacking and to be honest 80mph is plenty on our roads.. Even if it does not keep up, what will he be missing out on exactly?
