WRC 2010 PC Demo

Played with the 360 controller and to be honest it was crap to me, felt like the rally games of old (which were good many years ago but not anymore). I would love to say they could fix the crap parts of the game and update it so that next years will be good but to be honest i think starting again would be best

I know DiRT 1 and 2 weren't a sim but the rallying in them were excellent and Richard Burns Rally which is years old is still one of the best rally games around both of which put this game to shame.

@whitecrook Richard Burns is the best rally game imho and i've saw many
people.

whats the best rally game? Is it richard burns rally?

Yep rb rally is still the best and many mods available for the game, at the moment tho I am having a play with colin mcrea 4 for some fun until i can find my copy of rb I am sure i have it some place :)

Downloading this now. Will give it a try and see what I think. When it comes to rally games I like games that aren't too complicated and quite easy to play because I love to let my unhinged driving style loose after playing too many F1 games where you have to follow the right racing line. Just hurtling around and crashing into things is quite good fun.

I've got RBR which has to be the best rally game made but I just never got to grips with it, probably because I didn't have a steering wheel with which to play the game. Considering the style of RBR you really need a wheel to play it properly I think. :)

My favourite is still the old Magnetic Fields Rally Championship from 1999 with its many > 20 mile real life courses. I accept we will probably never see the like again as keeping the levels console "friendly" (dons flame jacket) so each course can be driven in a five minute attention span.

Got it running - one bright note is the only copy protection I can see is that the disc must be in the drive.

However tend to agree with everything that has already been said.

Wasn't expecting Crysis 2 graphics, but they're not even as good as Railworks.

Car handling is pants, zero physics and I can't see that changing the setup makes much difference. Hardly any car manufacturors to choose from - Ford, Citreon and a token Sub. I want to drive a Corsa!

Gameplay is arcade, career mode is little more than an imitation of the Dirt pyramid system. The AI competition makes no mistakes and even on medium level with what I regarded as a good drive, am struggling to place in the top ten. Unfortunately that means you can't unlock any new levels and end up stuck playing the same track over and over trying to advance.

Think I will be loading up Rally Championship for another go and sampling the delights of Hafren Sweetlamb or Pundershaw in all their technical glory. Is it too much to ask for a "proper" rally game that doesn't pander to the console kiddies?

It's really starting to bug me now. I've had three attempts at the Alsace Rally and can't get past it. First stage I come second, second and third stages cannot even get in the top ten and you need to finish fifth overall to move on.

Did this game even get play-tested? You only need to make one minor mistake and you might as well start again, the best and worst AI is separated by seconds so at the moment it seems impossible to progress.
