I've been playing Frets on Fire a lot recently, especially a couple of Dragonforce tunes. However, after 7 minutes of frantic mashing on the enter key with my right hand, my wrist really aches.

So, forumites, can you suggest some activities to help strengthen my wrist so it doesn't ache so much after a round of 'Though the Fire and the Flames'?

You've either got RSI or you're developing it...wrist support for the win?

You could try wrist curls, I know that helps.

Never heard it be called that before :confused:;)

lol, perfect example;

Playing guitar has little to do with "Strength", its technique. Especially when it comes playing up tempo, alternate picked songs, like "through the fire and the flames". No amount of strength will save you when soloing at those tempos, its a question of economising. Oh yeah, learn to play the real thing, virtual guitar is as good as air guitar. It'll also help you subconciously learn how to economise strength within your wrists/fingers, if you can call it strength..

Also, wrist curls are ment to build up forearm strength, not so much wrists.

I don't think he's playing actual guitar (thankfully), but you're spot on anyway.

Heh, i know, i'm saying that being able to play guitar could be advantageous to people that enjoy those virtual guitar games. Btw andelusion, what bpm can you alternate pick? Know your guitar savvy n all. :)

(not a thread derailment, just a quick question)

Have a look at your technique, you may have a bad wrist posture, either way you look at it, you are doing something wrong if it's hurting. :p
