Write midi files to a cd so they can be played in a cd player

Hmm - midi files are a data file, not audio. You would need to play the midi file and record the audio output of whatever is playing the midi files. (Whether its winamp etc or an external keyboard/sound module).

Save that as a wav file or suitable audio format, and burn an audio cd using these files.

Thats the basic steps but it depends on how you normally play midi files. :D

Right, what I did was, Plugged a jack in the headphones and the other end in the line in. Then i played it in windows media player and used sound recorder to record it. Score!

Thats great!

Actually, I don't think you even needed the cable. If you selected "stereo mix" or "wave out" as your recording source most cards do that sort of connection/mixing internally.

Still, its done now - glad you're all sorted!

I think your best bet would be to use something like the Yamaha SYXG50 Software Synth, and use that as your Main Midi playback synth.

You could use say WinAmp to output your Midi files as MP3 Perhaps and then simply use these MP3s to write to the CD?

I have tried this as a quick hack and it works very well, but setting it up right can be a tad fiddly.

I use My Atari Falcon and several thousand pounds worth of Sequencer kit and to be fair, I still use a PC just to record the stuff ( I use an Audigy 1 and SBLive Drive to mix the Digital and Analog stuff ) and Im doing the same as what you need to do, but obviously on a much bigger scale.
