Writing a CV

ok i went into a well known games retailer who are hiring and they said to bring in a CV, which suprised me (application form are so much easier). now its just for a part time job, and all i can find is for full time jobs. so what would be the best stuff for me to put on it?

im bout to go in2 uni, did a gap year, play pc games. plz ask away bout anythin

advice plz :)
 
Don't make it too long, they really don't want to be reading a 6page epic. I normally aim for 2 sides of A4.

I would lay it out as follows:
Personal Details (Full name, address, contact details etc)

Then I'd bullet point some "Key Skills" that you think may be relevant to the position. Like being good with customers, interested in the Games industry or whatever.

Next would be any work experience, if you've not had a job before; list something. Even it it's just the work experience you do at School or whatever.

Education Details

Hobbies/Interests (although I don't really bother any more).

References.


Make you it's tidy and easy to read. With all spelling mistakes removed and grammar corrected. Get a couple of people to proof read it for these if you have trouble spotting them.

CVs are a lot easier if you applying for multiple jobs...

I'm guessing you were born in 1988, so you're not going to have much experience, a 1 page CV will be fine. There are plenty of websites which will be able to help you.
