Greeting!
I have a VodaFone USB dongle that has some files inside. The device wont let me put files in there or remove files as it says it is reads only!
Anyone know how to do this please?
Thanks

You can’t as it’s read only as stated. Any internal storage will only be for running the firmware/software for the dongle.

Just buy a USB stick, they are not expensive?

It's not a USB flash drive. It's a USB modem with the drivers included as accessible storage for convenience.

Buy a flash drive.

Assuming this is a 4G/5G dongle or WiFi device then as above you can't - the device emulates a CD-ROM when the drivers aren't installed so as to present the driver files to the user. There may be some way to rewrite the firmware to make it more usable for unintended usages but it would be very limited as usually they only have a few MBs of space and the media has low write lifespan.

Its a 4G dongle
Probably best forget about the idea then and send it back to the seller

Thanks anyway All

because the software on it was wrong! they said they would send another one out in the post but they never did!
If it has incorrect drivers on it for your OS, then to install the correct ones, you dont put the drivers you have downloaded "onto the drive". You would install them on your computer. You cannot change the software on the read only drive due to the reasons stated above.
If you are simply after a USB storage device, don't go to phone shops looking for them, if you are looking for a high-street retailer go to Rymans, Smiths (w/e its called now), Tesco, Currys etc . Or you can buy them online from any number of tech retailers, or amazon etc. From a quick search ocuk don't sell them themselves.

If you are wanting a different 4g or 5g device to connect to your computer to connect to the internet, then buy yourself a third party 4g or 5g modem dongle, or router and stick in the sim card that you have.

So in that case I really should install the drivers from another source right? Like online or the drivers on the other VodaFone locked dongle that i have right?

No I am OK for that one thanks

A though Rymans and Smiths where book shops only. Tescos dont have any computer stuff in anymore, Currys and Argos only sell the locked VodaFone dongles

Any recomendations please?
