I've started a course and need to do lots of writing. I can't stand biro's and those papermate things. Prefer very small tips.

What's a good comfy pen for long writing sessions?

Went into Ryman's, but there's so many and at about £3 each, a good selection gets expensive.

0.1 pens used in technical drawing are very fine tipped and I can't use anything with a bigger tip. I guess they're comfy enough but I guess that'll be a personal preference.

I have a few Pilot G-TEC-C4 pens, which have a 0.4mm rollerball tip. They're not bad for the price and I find them comfortable enough to write with for a few hours at a time, though I am still on the lookout for the perfect everyday pen.

mitsubishi uniball eye micro (ub-150) current fav pen for work, doesn't clog up even after writing on brick, marking drill points etc, goes straight from brick to paper and doesn't miss a beat

When I used to do lots of writing I found a fountain pen to be the best for me. Very little pressure needed saved on my hand getting fatigued. I would have thought a liquid ink rollerball would be similar.

You can't beat the biro. I just sort of accumulate biros.

If you have ever lost a pen, I probably have it.

Karma being what it is I used to forever be losing lighters.

The best/most comfortable pen I've found recently is the Zebra Orbitz, the barrel is a bit thicker than most pens which is partly why I like them - when I was studying it became quite uncomfortable to hold a narrow Biro for that length of time and this alleviated the problem. However they are labelled as medium tipped so they may not be fine enough for you.

Any types of the gel pens. The bic branded ones i think called uniball, when writing they just glide across the page, rather than a biro where you feel as if you are almost scratching the surface of the paper. Will never go back to biro now.

The only downside to gel is that the ink takes a little longer to dry, so you may want to avoid rewriting a section that has just been written.

I've always found that a good quality fountain pen provides the best writing experience if having to write for extended periods. Alternatively, I use Pilot V-Ball 0.5 pens which are very smooth.
