OK so about a week ago my motherboard died and I had to replace. I'd been using Windows 8 originally and had gone through the upgrade to windows 10.
Anyway, replacing the motherboard needed a fresh reinstall so I wanted to cut out the hassle of installing Win 8 just to go thru the upgrade to 10. So I went onto the Microsoft site and downloaded a fresh Win 10 iso file.
Installed it all ok, spent a day reinstalling all my programs etc. to get the machine back up to default.
Anyway, usual message comes up about activating windows, so I type in my key and its says I cant use it as I've installed Win 10 Home premium and my key is for Windows 10 Pro.
Surely there is a way to just upgrade Home premium to Pro without having to do a clean install again and set me back another day?
I've gone through the Activate options under update & security but it just sends me in circles. You can tell it to upgrade to pro, tell it I already have a key but then it complains its not for Home Premium *sigh*.
Anyone any ideas?
