Hi Guys,

I got a WRT54GL and flashed it with Tomato.

I've set up most of it but had a few questions. Never used Tomato

1. I was playing with the channel selector and search button for the WIFI. It came up with 3 channels that had users on it. I'm assuming I should choose a different channel which is empty, right?

2. I would like to set up the QoS such that Skype outranks everything then gaming, then http/s, and all the way at the bottom torrent. But I was looking at the percentages in Group E and I don't understand, does that mean 1 - 10% will be used for that group even if the rest of the bandwidth is free?

How did some of you guys set up your QoS?

Are there any other settings / tweaks that would be good for me?

We are 4 users, 2 of us are fat heavy users, the others are little bulimic users. :D

Thanks :)

Someone more knowledgeable will be along tomorrow given the time now, I'd imagine. Which version of Tomato are you running? The standard/original? You may find Victek's RAF Mod runs a little nicer with such a setup, especially since there are a few of you sharing it. It's just normal Tomato with added SpeedMod and some tweaks for more connections etc. It also lets you overclock the WRT's CPU to 250MHz for more performance. :)

Yes, definitely choose channels away from other users. Three channels away, if possible - so if they're on 1, 6 and 11 you use channel 3 for example.
It's pretty well set up from the start, but you can maybe reduce the TCP connection timeouts a little. As for QoS, you'll have to wait for someone else I'm afraid. I've never needed to use it. :)
