WSUS server

Morning all,

Im hoping someone here has had experience with setting up and maintaining a wsus server. I have managed to set one up but it seems very temperamental. After a few days it will fail to load the update list and i have to restart the wsus server service.

Has anyone else had experience with wsus or can someone point me an the right direction to a dedicated discord server for IT professionals/IT infrastructure engineers

Ant help is much appreciated.

WSUS is crap and will hopefully get deprecated at some point this year. It's better to use Windows Update for business, if you've got intune it works well.

Thanks for the reply. From the time spent playing with WSUS, i was starting to get that impression!

You can manage it with group policy but it's easier with intune.

If you do persist with WSUS I'd strongly suggest you configure it to store its database in SQL Server rather than the default WID (Windows Internal Database). While this won't affect the overall manageability of it, it will vastly improve performance and you won't be frequently stuck with a WSUS console that is hanging and crashing.
