Wsus updates.

Hi guys quick question.

Got my WSUS server running and finding computers over our network etc which is fine although its not finding some computers including my laptop.

Its in the GPO and iv ran a gpresult to make sure its seeing it, and it is. Do windows updates have to be turned on in the control panel on the laptop? i was under the impressing the GPO did this?

If group policy is being applied properly then Windows Update should say "You receive updates managed by your system administrator", and when you click settings it should say "Some settings are managed by your system administrator". If it says this but you're still not seeing the computers in WSUS, try to manually initiate the automatic update client on the workstation - you can do this by running "wuauclt.exe /detectnow" at the command prompt. I've had it take several hours for computers to appear in WSUS, for some reason it's just one of those things that takes ages.
