I run a repair center and am constantly having to download various windows updates for machines ranging from XP to Windows 7.

I do not have a server at the moment and can set one up if this is what is required but none of the customers machines will ever be on the server domain, so my question is will WSUS work for machines only on the server domain? If yes, how can I update the vast number of machines which I get on a monthly basis without having to use automatic updates?

Also, have the latest service packs at hand..

XP SP3
Vista SP1
Vista SP2 (I think you have to go from Vista to SP1 to SP2)
7 SP1

You'll need 32bit and 64bit for Vista and 7

Unlikely you'll find someone with XP64, but that's on SP2

another vote for autopatcher,

also look at driverpack if you are downloading drivers manually....

and nlite / vlite to create almost upto date silent xp / vista installs

That looks amazing.

I might fire up a couple of VMs and give it a go. I had no end of problems with WSUS in my last place of work due to the way we had to download them (policy if you wish).

Sorry for hijack.
