Well I'd hapilly settled with my machine running at just over 3.4GHz. 8 hours prime stable and lots of Crysis and various other games and it's been fine, not crashed once.

I decided to play some of my old games last night and dug out an RPG called Loki (its not actually that old, but the graphics arnt anything special). I hadn't even got to choosing my character and the screen just went black!

The sound stayed on for a minute then went off and my monitor went to windows desktop with an error in the corner saying that my graphics driver had crashed unexpectedly but restarted OK.

Thought must just be a one off, ran the game again and sure enough same thing... Dug out an older game (Alien Afterlight) and same thing with that

Put all my setting in the BIOS back to normal (stupidly never wrote down what I had before) and all seems fine? Looks like i'm going to have to start clocking from square 1.

Anyone else had this happen?

could be a driver issue, i've had this issue in vista with EVE.

Try driver cleaner or a manual uninstall and then deletion of old nv graphics driver files in safe mode (google it!) and re-installing a recent driver, 174.85 is lurking over at guru3d.

You kinda answered your own question to the problem....

You reverted back to stock setting's and it worked fine, almost any game CAN have issues with overclocked hardware...Looks like the older games just don't like it. Might just be a matter of settling for a slightely lower clock in order to play the older games, but there isn't really an easy way of telling other than trying sadly.

for future, make sure you write down, email, or remember your OC settings, so you don't have to do the ORTHOSing again, unless you actually want to

Lol I actually had every single setting wrote down as I overclocked last time on a sheet of A4, typically I threw it out at the weekend thinking I did'nt need it anymore! Won't be making that mistake again!

Gigabyte boards can save the profile. Handy :). But i dont know how robust they are. I know if mine resets, i just reload it from the saved settings.
