wtf cant get 1/4" fitting on xspc ddc acrylic pump top inlet but CAN on outlet (pics)

my 1/4" bitspower fits fine on the outlet of my pump top but not the inlet? the inlet thread seems too small but dont want to force it.

any ideas

One of the top inlets is tapped to G1/4", same as the outlet. The other top inlet is M20. That your barb doesn't fit suggests either the barb or the reservoir has been machined to insufficient tolerance. I'd blame the reservoir, as it's easier to get threads wrong in acrylic than in brass.

fail i wrote that drunk last night lol. its not a res top its just the pump top. also 3/8 is >1/4" but my inlet appears too small not too big.

I just assumed the pump top would uniformly be 1/4" tapped:(

I've got a non-reservoir xspc top here which has three G1/4" holes in it, one top centre and one on the side to let water in, and one near a corner on the side to let water out. I guess it's possible you've got a version with deliberately varying threads cut into it, but I can't think of a reason why xspc would do that :s

outlet, clearly this will go in fine:

Inlet, the thread is wider than the hole entrance!:

won't fit:

and looking around online everyone's pump top inlets look smaller than the outlet yet no one reports a problem?!

whaaaaats' goiiiinggg onnnn:(

it's not the barbs i've tried phobya res blanking plugs, also 1/4'' and they don't fit.

argh so frustrated by this setback!

That's really odd mate, I was using that exact same top for my old DDC before I upgraded my loop, and the inlet thread was most definitely G 1/4", the exact same as the outlet thread.

Maybe the threads just haven't been cut properly??

yeh it is almost as those these are the pre-threads for the final tooling operation?

I've e-mailed XSPC UK to see what they say, I have checked so many times that it is not simple user error!

XSPC have replied already and will take a look at it and ship a replacement part. They also suspect that the inlet has not been finished.

Got a new top in the post today, the barbs fit:D

rep to xspc for handling it so efficiently
