WTF did Chrome just do to me?

Happily browsing YouTube just a moment ago, I get a spontaneous popup on the top-right in chrome that says "First User - Edit". I know I've never made any user accounts in chrome and certainly would NEVER make one called "First User" and I don't even sign in with my personal account, so I immediately think malware and press delete.

Well guess what - Google decided to create an account for me called "First User" without telling me and tie all my crap into it. Which I've now lost.

Fed up of all this crap Google is pushing these days for accountability.

Any way to get my bookmarks and saved passwords back?

It's just a local user account/profile. Calm down old bean.

Yeah I realise that now. I was ignorant of that fact. Fair enough it's written, I'm just annoyed that it didn't tell me this more directly like a notice saying "From now on your stuff is tied into the following user 'First User'".

I'll explain what happened though. Last night I must have been trying to type with one hand (;)) and I accidentally pressed CTRL while trying to press SHIFT+M. This caused the user switcher notification to pop up. My first thought was that someone or something just made a new user on my browser, and without further thought (as I was concentrating on maintaining something else, ahem) I quickly pressed edit and deleted it. :o
