OK, but be warned it's worse than useless, and what you can see just looks like stars because I was 'tracking' the lights with my phone, so you can't really see any movement. Will upload now.

Absolutely perfect, and they held the formation the whole time I watched them track across the sky.
How much lift does a chinese lantern have? Would 5 be enough to lift some bamboo canes? I am clutching at straws a bit here, as I have no idea how big this formation was!
If they were indeed keeping the exact same formation then I guess it would have to be an aircraft.

No it's not likely, not and keep perfect formation. I've similar things and it's normally cloud reflection of land-based objects etc...
Hard to judge without seeing it though.
Its funny, one of my mates from south London area saw an orange light in the sky the other day. but it was moving slowly then accelerated really fast away. he doesn't no what it was, but the lantern possibility popped up too.
