hey guys,

i left my computer on sleep last night, when i came down this morning, it was booted up to the desktop and everything up and spinning?

WTF?

i aint ****ing about with my OC now, i have left MSI afterburner on as that works great and like to check temps and usage etc..

im back to stock config in my CPU (was only overclocked at 0.2 anyway). so 4.0 and a boost clock of 4.2

there was a window update this morning i believe and would that possibly update during sleep and then reboot for the install of the update?

if someone can give me a few things to check that would be great, i mean its all running great i just cant figure out what happened?

Probably Windows Update. If you have Win 10 these get forced on you whether you're ready or not. I'm not sure if this can happen when the PC is in sleep mode, but it wouldn't surprise me.

I dread the Win 10 updates because often something breaks and I can't control when it happens so that I have time to deal with any fallout. At least with Win 7 I could control exactly when the updates happened and if necessary split the updates into batches.

Still that's progress eh? :)

Sleep mode can sometimes fail - every now and again I leave my tablet on full battery before I got to work and come back from work to find its drained or very low because its been spun up all/most of the day.

Sounds like in this case Windows update interfering.

ahh, right,

im in the BIOS right now on my computer, but under power management i cannot find the WoL option :(

is there any other name it might be?

think i got it..if someone can confirm..

ErP Support has DISABLED =
default power consumption

ErP Support ENABLED =
NO WOL

and is currently disabled. i change this to enabled to activate NO WOL.?

that seem right guys?

My PC kept waking randomly. I disabled keyb+mouse+lan in the bios, and in windows. I also disabled all scheduled tasks but it still kept doing it so I was missing something.

In the power options, there is a setting that says something like "Disable wake timers". That has done the trick :)

My pc used to come out of sleep all the time, i never looked into it, i just disabled sleep and shut it down instead. Its so fast starting up nowadays i dont see the need for sleep.

hey guys,

thanks for all the input, will see how this goes now, it also checked for updates around 3.30 this morning so maybe that is the culprit, changed the settings in the bios now, but like you said bluD, shutting down is just as easy these days!

I think things like a wireless mouse will can also wake the computer from sleep.

Im using a wired mouse and keyboard, but at one point i thought my cat might have knocked it lol, and booted up.

but can't be as when i rebooted everything was back to scratch, not just a wake from sleep.
