WTF is happening with Pipeline?

It was never going to happen, for reasons covered many times. The owner just spun it out so he could make money from endorsements and money saving ideas etc.

I'm surprised more companies haven't tried what Tesco and Asda do. At Asda I have a Credit Card and so long as I use it to pay for my Petrol I get 2p per litre off (as well as the Mrs). I then pay that off each month as usual. We also get 1p per £1 at Asda off if we use it for shopping. Which we do.

The problem is if you miss a payment - you loose all the benefit in one months interest. you have to be careful. Im not too sure how much we have saved to date but ill look it up if anyone is interested.

doesnt that mean... getting your petrol from asda?!!?!

shell all t' way.

Errr yes it does. And as Asda are usually the cheapest in town and I get 2p a litre off and mine and the mrs cars seems to run ok I don't see the point in buying shell - plus the nearest shell station is other side of town (nearly 7 miles according their website). Asda is less than 3 and we go there every week. Makes sense.

Supermarket fuel seemed to give my old rover a noticable drop in performance and economy compared to the bog standard BP stuff. I rated it all like this:

Supermarket<BP normal<Shell Normal<BP ultimate<Tesco 99<Shell Optimax

But supermarket own stuff would make my car sound like a diesel, and run like one :(

2p a litre off. What's the point. I'd only save about 70p each time. The extra weight of the card in my wallet isn't worth it for that.

Well it isn't fantasic but on two cars doing about 12k a year it saves £65 a year. May seem a tad ott but then some people change cars to save money on road tax bands! If the saving was 5p then you would be looking at £160 pa.

Supermarkets sell petrol at a loss most the time. Its a loss leader that brings in shoppers.

Getting a main supplier to reduce costs to loyal customers will simply lose money, they won't be able to sell petrol cheaper than supermarkets and so there petrol sales wont magically increase.

Looks like Mr Scammel lived up to his name :D

A Rover wouldnt even notice the difference between the 'super' unleaded fuels.

I like the way you can grade them without even considering engine deposits....

So you're saying people should use supermarket petrol because it should be cheaper than elsewhere?

Yes and for a reason most the time.

The idea of the fuel card was falwed from the start as why would fuel companys offer fuel at a loss to increase the amount of customers.

I presume you're referring to Tesco 99 being 'better' than BP Ultimate? :p

It made my car run really rough (Tesco 99) so I stick with V-Power now :)

I just fill up with whatever is cheapest. My car is an 06 Toyota D4D company car so couldn't really care less if I get slightly less performance using supermarket fuel.
