I had an appointment to see a nurse this morning for some ultrasound on my achilles (preemptive you're doing it wrong!, is it a boy or a girl?). The nurse was the chatty type, which was a bit annoying but whatever. I mention that because it is the only possible reason that I can think of for what happened at the end of the appointment:

Arranging my next appointment, she presumably had my notes up. We got the date/time sorted, I was putting my coat on, then she said

"Oh, so you have a xxx problem?"

err, yeah, and? Wtf does that have to do with her (medically nothing related to the ultrasound at all)? And wtf even bring it up?

I responded 'yeah' with a raised eyebrow and left, but I thought the comment was wholy unappropriate. Am I wrong?

cool stary bra?

You have a porn problem?
Too much masturbation with your feet has caused your achilles problem

Not at all sure what xxx problem is, i guess it can only relate to something in the bedroom department.

was unproffesional of her to bring it up i suppose, maybe she was hinting that she'd sort it out for you? I have no idea.

Id have totally gone for the yeah, can you help me with that ;) approach.

I get annoyed when I phone for an appointment and the receptionist always asks what is wrong with you. I refuse to answer even though half the time it is just repeat prescriptions or a prescription review.

I bet she thinks I have a STD, every month lol.

I have a xxx problem too,

I love Vin Diesel and i just cant stop watching it. Strange they keep it on record though.

If 'xxx' means 'bladder control', maybe she was just looking at your trousers.

In fact, I just collapsed laughing going back and reading the post imagining it was that. :D

This annoys me too, I fail to see how the receptionist feels that they are involved in the doctor - patient confidentiality of it all.

I realise of course that they may represent a good shield against people wasting doctors time for no reason, by responding with "You don't need to come in if you're shivering, just turn the heat on", but I'd still rather they not ask.

That said, it does give the opportunity for some comical responses.

Almost a pointless thread. Sounds harsh but since the xxx is something you, quite rightly, don't want to mention here it is near impossible for anyone else to assess just how 'wtf' the moment was :(

What??? You're upset because a nurse mentioned to you something that you think was confidential/personal to no one but you.

But quite happy to post in front of X thousand members of a forum, am I missing something??

I'd have gone for this too :D

I was at the local Doctors Surgery once and some guy got called in on the intercom, and the Doc accidentally left the intercom on whilst he was talking to the guy... Everyone was just sat there looking completely horrified but strangely inquisitive whilst trying desperately to not be the first one to start laughing, it was quite surreal. Fortunately it got switched off before they got to any juicy bits :p
