Just had a look on eBay at Apple TV 2, I was thinking of getting another but the prices are through the roof !!!! :eek:

I guess its because they are JB'able

But still 100% more than what apple priced them is taking the ****
 
Wow, I have no intention of Jailbreaking mine, perhaps I should eBay it for profit and buy the new model. Awesome!

you can pick up a ATV3 for £70 yes it doesn't JB yet, but you charge £180 for tech thats coming up to 2 years old just to run xbmc/plex on a machine, when theres alternatives out there like the roku,boxee and wdtv live thats does the same job at 1080p (atv2 is only 720p remember) for less and you dont think its a rip off

It's a no brainer, £100 in the pocket. Do it now before (if!) the ATV3 jailbreak comes out as prices will plummet.

The ATV2 is a quality XBMC device. Low powered and quick enough to decode any type of video file you can throw at it. Airplay mirroring as well. I'm really glad I bought mine whilst they were still the latest ATV.

1080p would be nice though.

People really need to start educating themselves in the world of set top media players. £89 will get you a Dune HD 101A with Zapitti (free, but iOS app is £13 IIRC)

Yeah, I know you can run RTMP apps on xmbc but most have stopped working now :mad:
 
Lets not forget the Raspberry Pi.. Works really well with XBMC and plays 1080p just fine. Yours for 30GBP. (+ charger and sdcard, but most people will have these laying around anyway).

or buy an Apple tv 3 and stream Xbmc to it using AIRPARROT
 
wow.. really.. I never even considered an apple tv when i was looking for a 2nd media player device for my bedroom.

I went the route of a 2nd ps3 which I got a 2nd hand one of a work colleague/mate for £130 pounds.

The thing aint even got a hdd lol, ok there's less services and supported formats on the ps3, but I can play blu ray and have a blast of a game when I feel like it.
