I'm looking to install ubuntu onto my laptop along side Win 7 so I don't mess any of my school stuff on my windows partition up with my programming things.
Does wubi actual make another partition or do I need to use the cd ?
The whole point of Wubi is that it allows you to install WITHOUT the trouble of partitioning. It is easy for windows users to use without worrying about losing data and bootloaders etc. You can also uninstall linux form the windows add\remove panel if necessary.
Wubi gives you protection from doing something silly when installing linux, but you are just as safe (or unsafe) as a regular install when using when booted.
