WW2 flight sim, which is the best/easiest, etc

I quite fancy having a go at a WW2 flight sim with aircraft like spitfires, mustangs, thunderbolts, tempests, ME109, ME110, Fw190, you get the picture. I'd like good graphics (don't we all) an arcade (easy mode )to have fun and normal mode to make things more interesting.

. Easy joystick mapping would be nice (advice as to which one to get would be appreciated) and downloadable mods, aircraft skins, terrain packs, etc would be nice too.
Any ideas opinions muchly appreciated

Could start with War Thunder for a freebie will give you most of the above, then maybe IL Sturmovik.

Warthunder does fit that well but to get them planes will be a big grind even with a premium account.

Look at Warthunder, World of warplanes? Even World of warships now has a small aircraft carrier based gameplay you never know you might like what you see i find that if you like History and war history you like Wargaming.net games and War Thunder.

IL2 battle of Stalingrad ticks all of those boxes, if you want all the aircraft named then it can run you a fair few quid, but its a step up from war thunder and not as in depth and sim-like as other games.

The days of free terrain packs are pretty much gone tbh, it's got a fair bit of dlc to add extra planes and maps and they go on sale fairly often

It's old but if you're after mods il-2 1946 is probably your best bet. B.A.T. mod covers everything from ww1 to modern jets, VPmod focuses purely on ww2.

Expensive Hi Fidelity, small multiplayer - DCS (can try the P51 unarmed for free)
Expensive Lots of aircraft, big multiplayer - IL2 Battle of Boddenplatte
Cheapish WWII Battle of Britain - IL2 BOB (No VR)
Cheapish Russian Front - IL BOS / BOK
