WW2 Online Battleground Europe now on Steam!

I'm in so Cheers.

Well that day has come! As I write, free accounts are now able to be created and played on the live server. Equipment choices are limited and a premium account cannot be downgraded to a free account. The general rule of thumb is that the equipment a free account user can access is lower down the scale to encourage them to get a paid account in order to get the "good stuff" you all want. As the campaign progresses the quality of equipment a free account can access does improve, but they can never access the latest or best gear

Hope there not to limited.

The F2P is proving to be a breath of fresh air so far. More people in the game now than I've seen in my 4 years of playing. Some intense and fun battles being played out over the last few days.

If you've never tried this game, get on the F2P and enjoy.

Wow that looks great! What engine is that? Unreal 1904? I know the engine doesn't make the game but that looks like something from the last decade.

The game has been around a long time, longer than a decade I believe. Yeah, if you're playing for the graphics... don't. I hear BF3 is awsum.

I always thought the infantry game was the worst of the three arms in wwiiol. Always suffered lag and pretty clunky. The armored game was really good, a steep learning curve though and always annoying nubs emptying a depot and driving the tanks straight down the roads into enemy ATGs, but the air game was what I played for years.

There is nothing that quite matches moving around in WWiiO whilst you hear battles both close and distant all around and Planes overhead. The project was so ambitious when it was designed. The engine is way more basic than a modern FPS but nothing appraches it in scale.

I have been wishing for their to be a way to try this for a long time ,but never bit the bullet, looking forward to giving this a go. I know it looks old and decrepit, but the scale and feeling of a constant battle is going to be great :)

Ah the memories - one of my earlier videos just to show somebody how intuitive trackir was, apologies about the constant free guncam references!

edit - just looking through the videos and youtube has made all my private vids of my kids and stuff public, pretty unhappy so deleting the account. Will shove the video up later under another account.

Just wondering if any of you have given this a try? If so, I'm interested to know what you make of it so far?

I probably skipped a step in the tutorial but I could only spawn at a base that was ten minutes of running form the battle, only to be instantly killed.

Don't give up on it. It took me 2 days before I got my 1st kill! The best advice I can give is to ask on side chat if any squads are recruiting and join one. Communicate with squaddies and you will advance much quicker and also have more fun. Team Speak also enhances the gaming experience, keeps you alive that bit longer and can be such a laugh.

If you want to rank quickly, have a play with the bofors and try to shoot down enemy air, you get many points. The bofors is great fun.

I mainly fly these days but if anyone wants me join them shooting the bofors just message me in game with the .m command. My tag is skally.

(Forgot to add that I'm currently playing on Axis side for this campaign after 4 years playing Allied)

Probably not the detail you wanted but interesting

http://www.hoofsperformance.wwiionline.com/flight_model_details.htm

The difference in wwiio when you are flying about is every tank and infantry you see will be controlled by a person, their are no npc's in the game at all. Has to be experienced regardless of whether the gameplay ultimately floats your boat

*forgot naval is also covered, can't remember to what size though

REVIVE!

Had an email last night about the new pricing structure. Must say im disappointed. essentially you get Tier 1 stuff at free, Tier 2 for $9.99 and tier 3 for $17.99.

Really, as far as im concerned that means as a flier (the main reason i played) paying 10 bucks, a third of the game would have me stuck in a Mk. V going up against Tier 3 Axis planes, not the least of which is the FW190 which can tear a Mk V apart. For the same price as any other MMO. If I double it I can get the full game.

I really dont understand the logic of this. The free players are going to get caned as the map progresses, will this make them want to pay for the next tier, when its only another third of the game? Surely a better option would be to get the full game for $9.99 and youd have more people subbing...

I love WWIIOL, I still consider it to be one of the best games I ever played, but except for armor, there are better flight combat sims out there and the infantry game was outdated five years ago. playing I44 for Arma last night, I just thought wow, if WWIIOL had these graphics... My old squad seems to have died, and they were all hardcore grognards, so I cant see myself ever going back.

Anyone still play?
