Hi all, I bought GTA 5 last week, and my XBOX 360 did not have 8 gigs free. As the Sandisk official XBox USB drives were selling at £40 a pop (I wonder why??) I opted for the San disk razor 16GB USB drive. After I formatted it to my Box i was advised it does not meet minimum critera BUT is OK to use, My question is basically this... I am severely dissapointed with the graphics on GTA 5, the sea and water look good, but the land textures and overall look and feel is rubbish,, is this because the USB stick isnt up to scratch? would a below standard USB stick affect the graphics or just the loading time? or is GTA just pants? many thanks

It's probably the game I'm afraid. I use a Sandisk Extreme 16gb USB stick and the game runs fine with very minor texture pop in sometimes. If your ingame textures are changing from low res to higher res slowly, as in they are changing too slowly when the game is moving as though its trying to catch up then it 'could' be USB stick but I doubt it. In terms of quality of the game - not textures popping in - there's nothing you are doing wrong, it's just the way the game looks. Do you game on a LCD tv through HDMI? Is your 360 display settings setup correctly to 720p or 1080p? If you connecting through Scart to your tv then the picture quality won't be "HD", it will look horrendous.

I have it installed on the normal xbox hard drive and the load times are still long. On the whole it looks good for a console game but is rough round the edges, literally. There seems to be not much AA, also pop in, poor framerate in areas and as you said the some textures are not that good. To be fair though that was being picky as on the whole graphics are good, are you a PC gamer by any chance?

I am connected to a HD tv through HDMI, b ut I dont recall changing display settings, is this done on xbox or tv?

Land/building textures aren't great in GTA V but the overall graphical effect is pretty awesome considering it's running on current gen hardware. Your best bet is to google from some screenshots and videos, if it looks significantly better than what you are seeing then you might have an issue but I doubt it as the Xbox checks USB read speed when you initialize the drive.

theres just something about it, im not liking, the trees are a jagged mess, the non existent engine sounds, old clapped out cars that can scream to the top of a mountain in 5 seconds flat, I can drive all the way around the map in 10 minutes, its just not what I expected, head on collisions at 100 miles an hour that scratches the paint..... it lacks the feel of san andreas and panache of vice city. thanks for the posts, at least i know not to waste money on another USB stick

The machine is from 2006, what do you expect? 2013 GTX780 graphics?

Find a game from 2013 and put that on a graphic card from 2006 and see what that's like.

the non existent engine sounds

It's there, turn it up, or turn off the radio.

old clapped out cars that can scream to the top of a mountain in 5 seconds flat

Off road or on the road? A mere hill or the actual mountain in the game?

I can drive all the way around the map in 10 minutes

And? You saying the map is too small or you don't stop in between to do things? There are abundance of things to do if you don't wizz through the map.

head on collisions at 100 miles an hour that scratches the paint.....

You tend to fly out the windscreen at head on collission, at least I do ! And then you either hurt when you land or die when hit a barrier.

it lacks the feel of san andreas and panache of vice city.

Can't comment, never played them.

The USB stick means silent operation from the XBOX, it means consistent loading time with minimal seek time, it means prolonging the XBOX's DVD drive.
