X-Box live free Trial

Hi all,

I was under the impression that when you bought a premium system you were given a month free triall of XBox live Gold. Is this right? If so, where can I find the code?

Create a gamertag on the xbox itself (not through the www.xbox.com website) and it will be creditted the 1 month trial.

Correct, also worth noting is that when you use the trial cards that come with some games they have to be used on a new gamertag and can't be used to extend your gold membership on an existing gold enabled gamertag.

I like the way the live leaflet that comes with the 360 urges you to sign up for a gametag on xbox.com first (so you dont get your free month)

They really dont want to give these out if they can help it !

I tried to - but when signing up it just gives me the option of either Silver membership or one of the subscription options :mad:

Select Silver... and you will get the 1 month gold trial.

Sob.....Think I've only half created it through the xbox itself then finished it on xbox.com - Will have to see when I get home. Meh - It's only a couple of quid anyway

As above, you sign up to silver and then it goes "Would you like 1 month free gold trial?" after you've done it.

Got scared though. It said - Are you SURE you want just silver?! So i backed out and closed it down.

EDIT - Just out of interest can I add a 12 month gold subscription onto my 1 month free trial if I have it? = 13 months of gold?

Just add it once your account reverts back to silver, therefore making it gold again for a further 12 months.

Agreed, I seem to recall that some people had issues when trying to add on 12 months card to a free trial having issues. Although this was around release time. Not sure if this is still the case, but just wait till the end of the trial, to be certain.
