x box live probs

Anyone having trouble staying connected to Live?? Mine keeps disconnecting, i dont know if this is due to the update or what??

oh right,,, ps3, online works fine,, comp etc,, but live,, as always been very hit n miss for me, but this is the worst its been?

Bit hard for us to diagnose really...

It is connected via cable?
Wireless?
Do other devices lose connection at the same time?
Ports open correctly?
Connected via router?
Does modem stay up?

More details please

ahh qustions,lol

Wireless
Binatone router, loses connection, when pc and live on, only if i attemt to to download on live,at times,, but sometimes just disconnects.
ports?

modem seems ok

When you're connected on live, and live goes down does your pc also go down?

it could be that your MTU rate is wrong, or UPnP errors, you can get around these though

yup it does,, just had error message on live now,,, Cant retrieve imformation from x box live, status code 80072741 ??

It might be that there is too much information coming into the router, what router do you have?

Run the xbox connection test, see if all of the options are correct. You might get a couple of moderate ones, which could be causing the problems (specifically to NAT)

Ok, are you in uni?! Nat is reccomended to be set to open, which is a setting you can change on your Router.

Make sure UpnP is enabled and try it again too. Change your MTU settings to be 1400 (minimum is 1340 I think) so 1400 is a good number.

and click your router, that will shows you how to open up the correct ports.

Give that a go and come back,

Just had a look around, if that doesn't work, turn off your modem, router and console, leave it for a couple of minutes then turn on your console router then modem in that order

See if that works.

sorry im a noob to all this, how do i open nat?, get to upnp, and mtu settings?? cheers

It;ll be through your router mate. Open up Firefox/IE and type in the routers ip address (usually 192.168.0.1 or similar, depending on what it says on the sticker on the bottom of the router)

internet explorer window, or firefox.

Like: http://192.168.0.1 that will allow you to enter your router setup.

thaks for all your help hilly,, apparently i have a one off router, was never meant for public use, damn friends and there gifts??lol,, anyway going to get a new compatible router, and have stuck the cable on for a bit,, no probs now, cheers
