So X-Factor Auditions have started this week in Manchester, Anybody going for it this year on here? Or know of any family or friends?

My g/f is going down tomorrow. Shes so nervous.

GordyR ( did you ever try out for any of these shows?)

Only answer this truthfully if she doesnt read this forum.

Can she actually sing? Because you could save her a whole lot of time and pain if you tell her she cant. Also make sure she doesnt do any dancing or have some dumb theme.

If she cant walk in, stun them with singing and above average looks (without dressing like a cheap hussy) then she probably shouldnt bother turning up.

Then again I only watch the first part of X-Factor when the missus has it on :p

A girl I know from Wales is entering, she's got a cracking voice.
I'm going down to watch her audition with her in Cardiff.

She can sing yeah. Got a good voice, I would have put her off it if I really thought she would get knocked back straight away.

Is she entering the serious or humiliation category?

Quoted for truth, you have to audiotion in front of a panel of researchers first and only get in front of Simon and the circus if your good or really crap.

No mate, X factor really isn't my cup of tea. The journey to the top is a huge part of what makes an artist in my opinion. It's all far too over-commercial for my liking. I personally don't feel we will ever see an artist of real substance emerge from these shows. I mean, lets face it... The show has very little to do with music as an artform and much more to do with saturday night entertainment.

But I could be wrong of course. :)

One Q though, do they ever sit through all those 10k+ audience, the three judges that it is?

I think they have people screening them as they walk into the audition building. They basically filter out the 'average' people leaving the good and the bad (for the comical value). Something like that, but to answer your question, no. :)

Yeah I totally agree about the over commercial bit.
The only person thats come out of one of these shows, that could sit there with an instrument infront of a crowd and perform is Lemar.

His music isn't great, but he has got good voice.

OT: Hows your music going? Saw your album on CDBABY last night

Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson are awsome singers/performers and came from these sorta shows (and they have real substance in my opinion). Leona from the last series is a good singer, but I can see why she would lack "substance"... so i know where you are coming from...

This years American Idol is terrible too, I've only been updated on it by singing clips on youtube, but nobody is standing out for me... they're just gonna pick the best of bad bunch.

My mate auditioned for X-factor a few years ago, he sang some bland Elton John songs so didn't make it through.

Anyone seen Finnish Idol this year, nice power metaller won it :)
