X-FI, 5.1 and DTS?

Ok, i want uninstall this crappy Inter Video Audio Decoder, but i cant seem to find any option anywere to uninstall it, is this Inter Video Audio Decoder a part of the Creative sound drivers? also i can find anywere at all to remove Win DVD, no option in ADD or Remove programs

I still don't understand why you're so fussed about the fact that it's software or hardware. It's going to be the same, it's not crappy!

It may still be the same, but i dont want it using CPU usage, and i want to use the X-FI's decoder seen as i payed for it!

Software Decoder is crappy, when you payed £150 for a card that does it in Hardware and also software uses CPU up more and i dont want that.

How do i uninstall this InterVideo decoder stuff? and Win DVD 7?

I think the point is that he may as well use it if he has it. I certainly wouldn't buy a new card for it.

I bought a new card for DTS, DD5.1 ,EAX5, Front Panel, The remote, Coax, Optical and all the other fetures the X-FI has, and becouse its the latest sound card so it will last for years as soundcards do get outdated nearly as quick as Graphics cards, it's also nice that somthing i have is reccomended my Games Makers.

Anyway all i want to know is, how do i remove this InterVideo Audio Decoder and Wind DVD 7 when there is no option anywere to remove it?

Yes, thats the first place i went to, i also looked in start menu, no menu or anything for Inter Video Win DVD 7 :\.

dont know then?? i have winDVD7 and its in all the places you've looked.

tbh its probs one of the best dvd player software out if not the best, with powerDVD coming very close. if i were you id jsut keep it :)

yea i would but its doing software decoding and making my movies lag coz of it, i need hardware decoding.

no it isnt making your movies lag, something else is. nobody else complains about using software decoding:)

you dont need hardware decoding at all. to be honest, you dont need that soundcard, but you didn't listen to us when we told you that, either.

i would have suggested using AC3 filter if you absolutely must use the analogue connections for your speakers. that's what most people use on their HTPC setups ect, and it works very well. but alas, its not hardware decoding so its useless.

Wht are you on about, but you dident listin to us, i couldent look into the future and know that si what your going to say, i got the soundcard BEFORE you told me.

As i said, i did not just get it for DTS and Dolby Digital, i got it for all its fetures, now i DO NOT want to use SOFTWARE decoding seen as i got a card that can do it in HARDWARE.

What is this about AC3 filter is i must use analoug connection, i am using analoug connection connected to the X-FI, and i was told to use hardware decoding i needed to use analoug as digital would only produce stereo.

So cant i use the hardware decoding on the X-FI or somthing?.

And remember, i did not just get it for DTS and DD5.1 i got it for all the other fetures so please stop saying i dont need this card, i do for other stuff and its going to last along time.

no, you posted a thread about buying a soundcard. you didnt once see me recommend that x-fi for £150 did you?

Thats too bad, as i said.

hardware decoding and software decoding do the same thing. - decode a multi-channel digital source into a multi channel analogue feed that the soundcard can output to an amp/speakers.

Secondly, you only get 2 channel if your playing games, the card is perfectly capable out outputting 5.1 and more via digital for movies. now as i said in my second reply in this thread,
now, since you have the z5500's, you should have the spdif lead hooked up and have the software set to spdif passthru and letting the speakers decode the signal.

why do i feel like its a constant battle to get you to listen? actaully why am i still trying?

So cant i use the hardware decoding on the X-FI or somthing?.
I never said you couldn't. I dont know what you expect to gain from it, but there's no reason why not.
And remember, i did not just get it for DTS and DD5.1 i got it for all the other fetures so please stop saying i dont need this card, i do for other stuff and its going to last along time.

Why do you only take notice when we say something you dont like

hardware decoding and software decoding do the SAME THING - decode a multi-channel digital source into a multi channel analogue feed that the soundcard can output to an amp/speakers.

Yea i know they are the same, i dont care, i got a card, i want to use what the card can do.

Secondly, you only get 2 channel if your playing games, the card is perfectly capable out outputting 5.1 and more via digital for movies. now as i said in

Well if i only get 2 channel when playing games, why when i am in a game like ut2k4 can i only hear shooting from say the rear right speaker when someone is shooting at the rear right?

Nothing, i just want to use the Decoder on the sound card, and a software one would be using my cpu.

i take notice of everything :)

My second post already dispelled that myth. why didnt you read it?

because your connected via analogue?

Becouse at the time you added that to your second post i was making a post and i did not see that.

well yea, i dont need to use optical and coax. But i want to use the decoder on the card to listin to DTS and 5.1 DD with analoug.

that was the first thing i wrote in the post so you would have seen it, but let's not split hairs over that shall we?

i could call you stubborn you know. If i said to you that running passthru would mean neither the cpu or the sound card are being wasting cycles decoding the audio stream - which is debatable. let's face it decoding 5.1 audio takes very little effort, its video decoding that munches cpu cycles - then you'd still want to use the decoder which would sound exactly the same as the other two methods. Why? becuase your being stubborn, not becuase you want the best solution.

All i ask for it to try to use the Hardware Decoder, i know its not needed but... i still wanna use it.
