Hi,

I have a friend that's making the move from 939 AGP to 939 PCI-E. While I've been trying to source a used PCI-e board for him, I suddenly recalled an issue a long while back with Creative X-Fi's not liking nForce 4 based boards, vice versa?

Looking it up, I havn't found much in the way of a fix other than flashing to the latest BIOS. Is this still a rampant problem? Is this particularly board specific or a problem with one or two boards?

I'm sourcing either of the following boards for him to buy for reference:

DFI LanParty nF4 Ultra-D
Asus A8N SLI Premium.

If anyone could update me on the issue that'd be great. :)

Cheers,

Mul

Not a problem here, had an elite pro in my dfi nf4 since the day it came out. :)

It was only the cards without X-RAM that had the problems so your elite pro wouldnt have been a problem anyway

All the cards had 'x-ram' however the ones marketed with it had 64mb chips and others that were not had 2mb chips.

Some of the 2mb (and a few 64mb) chips were faulty or caused problems with the xfi chip so the xfi pcb was revised. In the end, twice and the provider of chips were changed. (eg. latest revisions use 2*32mb chips)
