x-fi and onboard simultaneously?

Is it possible to install the install the x-fi audio drivers and still have the onboard enabled (ie. not uninstalling the onboard drivers)?

I'm asking because i've got an extreme music and i'm tired of having to unplug the line out from behind my pc every time I need to use my headphones.

Yes just change the soundcard selection in control panel. You could just buy a input switching box from your line out to your phones & speakers. Around £25 from QED.

You generally can. However some soundblasters don't really like working with other devices and can cause you problems..

if you have a front audio connector on your case, i have a diagram you can use to hook it up?

i had the same problem after getting my xfi, so i bought a 3.5mm y splitter. gold connectors, but obviously you will have a slight reduced audio quality.
