X-Fi arrives on PCI-Express

Why would you want a sound card on PCI-Express? PCI is much better for sound cards.

Thats what i thought. Im sure i read ages ago that X-Fi wouldnt be on PCI-E because of latency or bandwith problems

This is good for people with limited pci slots :)

If a user has a high end graphics card and wants to add a sound card this is a GREAT option for boards with 2 pci slots !!

Its PCI-E 1x, but dont forget its not much good if youre running SLI and the PCI-E 16x slots disable the 1x slot

didnt think it would arrive on PCIexpress either thought it was just a rumour....

Thats not bad 30 quid for some high quality listening really/ games dont really benefit from EAX nor support it much and under Vista its off... so not bad at all for 30 quid.

Would be nice if they put it integrated on mobos or better Nvidia finaly come out and put there next soundcard on there graphics card and beat Creative maybe the G90 for integrated HDMI ;)

With games that do support EAX it makes an audible difference, though the performance increases they claim aren't really worthwhile.

Also, EAX is not 'off' on Vista, the latest version works perfectly well via OpenAL, and Creative are working on bringing support for the DirectSound games to Vista soon :)

I thought sounds cards weren't going to appear on PCIe as well.

I saw this and wondered whether I should change my Audigy 2 ZS for this? probably the only reason being is that I have something in my PCIe x1 port for once, and it might add a bit more air flow to my gfx which is sitting almost on top of the audigy.

If I were you I'd wait until the Xtreme Music/Gamer turn up so you get EAX, though the Audio should be fine if you're not a gamer.

OK probably will do as I'm in no hurry - anyone with any ide how they've got around the latency problem?

Precisely

The amount of people running high-end SLI rigs etc who can only make use of one PCI slot and have all of those pci-e 1x slots taking up space and generaly being useless...

now people can add physX cards, USB, TV, etc etc where before they couldnt!

Try this,

Converts DS3D to OpenAL, works for me in FEAR.
