Hi,

I know a lot of people are suffering with this problem, but does anyone know what the actual problem is caused by and how to fix it.

Please dont say look on these forums or the creative ones as i have done and cant really see anyone posting an actual fix.

Any help is much appreciated.

So what happens, I've not heard of this problem on here. Basically it will be working fine one day then say you switch the PC off, come back the next day, start-up and the sound drivers are missing?

i havent once been able to get creative software update to install anything, as soon as updates are downloaded it crashes!

i'm using X-Fi Extreme Music on a Gigabyte K8n-SLi Pro board with the latest bios updated TODAY!

Can you run the install's manually? They are downloaded into C:\Program Files\Creative\Software Update

^At least, I think that's where they go (perhaps in the Cache folder in that directory).

im getting this :

Asus K8v SE mobo ...

anybody got an idea where to start.... have a feeling this maybe just rubbish driver coding :(

ok (normally I hibernate) so dont get this problem untill a restart... anyways when selecting Mic in/Line in from the Creative panel ... then selecting Digital I/O seems to fix it.... strange.

Its as if it looses this setting and reverts back to analogue - even though it dont change via the panel.

yeah thats a problem in the current driver, the I/O panel gets disabled (although it appears enabled) after a restart

should def be fixed in the next release, creative are rubbish at releasing drivers quickly though :/

cool - at least its confirmed.... to be honest I didnt really have any problem with the onboard sound... just goes to show when you go and splash out on a `better` card..... whats the saying ... `if it aint broke` lol

Hopefully the`ll sort it in the next release ;)
Cheers.
