So I paid for a prelude to try and get the best, but the mic jack let me down. I'm wondering about a creative card, I want to get the best quality and be able to connect via optical for dts as well as analogue for eax. Is the elite pro really worth it? I would cough up the price in a heartbeat if I knew it was better than a prelude.

Well if you want the optical capability then the Fatality will do the job with the internal drive bay. You could try and get the drive bay first as it should work with your prelude card.
