Hi guys!
I have a Fatal1ty X-Fi with a nForce 3 Ultra chipset, and I have a problem with SCP (snap, crackle, pop) and high pitched screeching!, this occurs only if the PC is left to idle for a few minutes, especially before I logon to Windows. I have tried everthing to resolve this issue to no avail! I have the latest BIOS release, albiet modded (sideeffect). One fix though, I have discovered, by entering the Audio Console (Game Mode) when the high pitched screeching or SCP occurs, and set everthing back to default it instantly resolves the problem! Now you can re-customse all your settings, Equaliser, Chrystaliser, etc. This is a pain!, but it is the only solution I have found! Does any one have a fix for this yet?. Its really beginning to bug me!

Thanks in advance,
Jonnygrunge.

PS I have all the latest drivers for all my hardware.

Harsh but almost true.

Just read that article, to quote:
"We would therefore recommend that all customers run a very simple test. Please try turning down either the game volume, or the Windows "Wave" volume, to see if this remedies the problem. If it does, it would be really helpful if you would notify us of this."

Good to see creative are not capeable running such rigorus testing on their own.
There are so many problems with x-fi, and so many different possible solutions. I get crackling only in arty strikes in bf2142 not all the time, I hope a simple volume change removes that but I doubt it will.
Jonny, I'd advise spending a day reading everything on the creative forums, may, jsut may help :p

one thing is your mic ON? and is it too LOUD = feed back?
Never had any problems with xfi cards :D try this auto patch thing from creative http://uk.europe.creative.com/support/downloads/ and click on auto update this does seem to fix a few problems

tryed also going to start and run and type DxDiag and turn off sound acceleration?
