In the quick start guide of the Creative Labs X-Fi Fatal1ty FPS edition, it says that the front bay can accommodate dynamic and condenser mics does this mean it has a phantom power supply?

Probably referring to the low voltage supply that is required by all PC mics. They are technically condensers, a type known as electret condensers, which means that thier charge is permnament (well, lasts a good few years) but a lower voltage (usually 5v with PCs) is still required to power thier internal FET (for impedance matching). It won't run most studio condensers (unless you happen to have an electret model as some slim mics are) but will accomodate normal PC mics :)

I use them in mics I build, some of the Panasonic capsules are excellent and are only £3. The circuits I use allow them to run from proper mixer phantom power and supplies a balanced low impedance output.
