Last week I took advantage of the O/C's This week only offer on the X-Fi Fatal1ty soundcard.
Ordered Friday afternoon, arrived Monday morning. The usual speedy delivery from Overclockers.
So far so good.
Rushed home that night, unwrapped everything (although some things looked like thy'd already been opened? - I was too excited about my new gadget to worry, perhaps I should have taken more time to look over everything).
However, the card itself and the front panel looked ok so on with the install.
Connected everything up, taking heed to make sure the IDE type cable was connected the correct way round. I used a floppy drive power connector to the front 5 1/4" drive panel.
Windows (XP SP2) detected the new hardware, I installed as per the instructions.
Rebooted and yipee sound out of my Medusa's :D
I then thought I'd try connecting the Xbox 360 to the front line-in 2 audio to check it out and..... nothing. The only thing that worked was the Remote. I checked every setting in the sound settings, line 2 unmuted, volume up, the front volume control on the panel was switched on as well.
Bugger I thought. It must have been the power connector as I hadn't used the one supplied with the X-Fi card. So I disconnected everything and used the supplied Y-power splitter and connector.
Now the remote doesn't even work!!!!

I may as well have saved my money and brought one without the panel!!!!

LOL I hadn't thought of that! Honestly thought I'd tried everything!!

Will check when I get home tonight.
I hope it is getting power, then it's just a software issue??

Yeah tried all sockets

One thing I had done between switching the power connectors was do the Battlefield 2 "fix" to get the X-Fi working in the game. Basically, uninstall the drivers, then reboot and reinstall using the Creative update.
However, the front panel hasn't worked either time.

Right, home now, Fired up PC, no light in the optical connectors.
Took it apart, removed the power connector that came with the X-Fi. Used the spare floppy drive power cable in the PC.
Fired it back up, now I have a light in the optical connector points.

Remote now works again.
Connected the 360 up to the line-in2 sockets, checked via control panel that the volume was up for Line-in2 and made sure the dial underneath the line-in2 connectors was switched round.
Fired up the 360 and..... NO SOUND! grrrr

I've tried all 3 of the X-Fi profiles (games, entertainment etc) but none allow any sound to escape through the speakers from the line-in2 source :(

Rechecked headphones plugged into the panel, and they work ok and I can hear everything going on the PC.

Actually, if I plug in the headphones to the front panel and twiddle the Line-in2 volume all the way up I can hear static like noise?!

oh and just to confirm, if I use one of those 2 into 1 jacks and connect the 360 in the mic-in on the actual card I can hear the 360 fine.
