my problem is that when i opn entertainment center it says 'unable to detect ir device' or when i plug anything in the mic or auxilary ports, no sound comes through

Have you plugged the power connector in the back of the drive bay box?

You should have red lights coming out of one of the optical connectors ( take the cover off to see 0

Is the soundcard part working? Do you get any sound through the speakers?
