The front I/O panel hasn't been working for sometime, so I decided to unplug the cables then reconnect them to check for damage.
Everything seemed ok, cleaned some fans on the outer case and switched the PC back on.

The front I/O drive still doesn't work.
Now the soundcard doesn't work.
There is only SPDIF output displayed in sound devices and I essentially have no sound. I have reinstalled the drivers and commenced creative update but there is still no analogue output.

Device manager shows Creative SB X-fi, but I can't access the creative control panel as I am told that there are no supported devices.

Rig :
Windows 7 x64 Premium
Gigabyte GA-990XA-UD3
X-fi Fatality Champion
2X GTX 570
1200W In-win PSU

Onboard sound is still disabled.
The card is in the only available PCI-e slot above the GPUs, where it has always been and worked fine.

I've googled the issue but still can't come to a solution, I have found out that some people did a clean boot of windows but they STILL had the same problem, so the solution must lie elsewhere. Anyone have any ideas?

Reviving this thread as I haven't been able to use my x-fi for around two weeks now (have to use on-board). I managed to stop the SPDIF problem but every time I restart the PC there's no sound from the speakers. I have to reinstall the drivers several times then it works again until the next restart.
It wasn't an issue before as I just left the PC running pretty much all the time, but I've moved house since, and because I only have mobile broadband instead of fibre optic I have no need to leave the PC downloading extended periods.
I've googled the issue extensively, I have found many other people with similar issues (mostly on windows 8, not 7) but I can't seem to find a clear solution. One I found was putting the computer to sleep instead of shutting down. This didn't work however.
Has anyone else heard of the nosound restart issue, or have any other tips?

Could this be caused by an IRQ conflict?

Thanks, I will completely eradicate creative from the system. Then I will restart and try the latest PAX drivers. I'm feeling quite confident now.
