"Sound Blaster X-Fi - gives you the power of an advanced CPU dedicated solely to audio, providing up to 40% more frames per second "

Total noob question here :D

Is a sound card actually worth it ?

I've had Creatives' before and they are more trouble than anything else.

The current onboard sound from my DFI NF3 250GB board is pretty good ( Hides behind desk :p ).

I've got Logitech Z680 connected via digital coax at the moment.

Would i gain anything , gaming wise , from a decent sound card ?

Cheers,

Mark

Take that statement with a pinch of salt.

Wow if only.
I say 10% max.
Maybe they are talking about if you run 4 Sound Blaster X-Fi`s in linked QuadSound mode:D

wouldnt mind some of what they were taking when they wrote that :D

gaming wise if you get a decent card i feel it adds to the game, can take a bit of time to adjust the settings to get it the way you like it but worth it.

There was a review while back with X-FI v a Gigabyte mobo with onboard.

The X-FI did give FPS gains in games as it lightens the load on CPU.

Google for it if you want the numbers.
