just installed my x-fi, fatility gamer pro version. Used the drivers&software off cd. Id read something about swapping modes in software between music, game and movies or something? Cant seem to find where its at..? lol

iv only got media source and software update there? wtf... I cant even find the drivers for the card (xtreme-gamer fatality) on creatives website lol. What a faff on! somebody help me, i want to get the most out of this beast :D

Just installed the latest XtremeMusic drivers from Creative & the Audio Console gets installed with the drivers.

Audio Console gets installed to C:\Program Files\Creative\AudioCS

Not sure if these drivers work with your card. Might be worth a try.

This download contains an improved version of the drivers found on the Sound Blaster® X-Fi™ XtremeMusic, Platinum, Fatal1ty and Elite Pro installation CDs. It provides full OpenAL support for gamers.

sod it, ill just install them anyway, its easy enuff uninstalling if they sod it up. There should be a console so i cant figure why mine hasnt installed off the CD, as on the back of the box it lists the different modes!

after lookin on creative website then basically those drivers are listed for every card except the xtreme gamer fatality, im going to take a **** in the wind and guess thats a website mistake.. il install after i finishin watchin this film. 'the guardian' - its a bit gay, topgun style =/ incase anyone was going to ask if its worth watching

I had a bit of a nightmare getting my X-Fi Music OEM setup. XP recognised the card as a "multimedia device" but the drivers on the Creative site wouldn't install (they're 'web update 1') as they said they could find no compatible hardware!

I managed to install the drivers after d'loading the CD Iso and thankfully halfway through that procedure Windows discovered that a "creative X-Fi WMD" was attached.

Again, the web update drivers still wouldn't install. However, I tried the autoupdate thingy on the creative wevbsite - this downloaded 'web update 4' and thankfully it installed ok.

Everything was running nicelyup until last night. After watching a film I decided to listen to a couple of tracks with winamp. For some reason though everything I played was speeded up and sounded like the chipmunks! Even video played through wmp11 and zoom player played about 10 times too fast!

A long-winded uninstall/driver cleaner/reinstall session followed and now everythings working fine.

I do hope Creative get their act together with the X-Fi drivers; there's all sorts of issues going on on the Craetive forum and tbh, the drivers just seem to be a big bag o' nails at the moment.....

ouch.

Installed those drivers i was linked to, they work fine. Even though my cards not listed as being compatible etc. n1 creative, another **** up :p

Iv got the audio console now, oh its fun playing with EAX :p

whats the difference between these modes? can I not just have... you know... Normal?!

edit - mines on entertainment at the mo, still hell of a lot better than my onboard.

think it just dedicates the resources on soundcard to doing specific things and tasks. I keep forgettin to change mine anyway :p haha

well if you have installed everything the media console is in programs/creative/soundblaster x-fi / creative console launcher

i had my card installed when i had a system upgrade and i must say the console was availble to me in the taskbar. but since i did a windows reinstall no matter how hard i try i cant get that option anymore so have to to it the long way.

if your listening to music i'd definately switch it to entertainment mode as you can hear the difference ( well i can anyway ) . does help that i have the AE 2.1 speakers :) and sennheiser hd600 headphones ;)

also have to switch to game mode if you want to use EAX in games

** regrading the chipmunks sound ** if you have changed modes check to see that you have speakers 2.1 selected and its NOT in headphone mode . i think in default they are different settings
