Ok I have a £50 surround sound setuip, with a soundblaster audigy 4 atm. Now I have seen OCUK have the x-fi extreme gamer card for about £50. I was wondering is it really as amazing a difference? Everyopne raves about going from onboard sound to x-fi, but what about from audigy 4?

For reference I watch films, play FPS games and listen ot lots of music! So need it to be good at everything really.

I went from an Audigy 2 to an X-Fi extreme gamer and I have to be honest, I have'nt noticed any difference at all.

What speakers/headphones were you using and also do you play games that support EAX?

What version EAX hardware does that Audigy 2 support?

The audigy series support up to EAX 3.0 as does the PCI-E X-Fi :)
Thanks Meatloaf, although I'm sure I read that the PCI-Express Creative X-Fi Xtreme Audio has no EAX hardware?

Did i read that wrong?

I have the ones below

I do play games in EAX and seriously have'nt seen any difference, except for the nice funky new GUI on the software.

I'm not saying they are not better, its just that to the average user such as me the difference is so small its hardly noticeable. Or maybe the audigy's are just bloody good cards..!!
