Hey guys,

I recently bought a Creative X-Fi XtremeGamer sound card to add to my PC. I've installed the card and drives fine and the audio is much better than my previous onboard sound.

However, I can't seem to get the microphone working (I play the odd PC game and use the microphone for ventrilo). I googled this issue and found that quite a few people have had/are having the same problem:

I've tried some of the solutions but none of them have worked for me, I still can't speak through my microphone. I've updated my drivers, checked that I'm using the correct connections, made sure the onboard soundcard is disabled in the BIOS etc.

The strange this is that when I go to "Sounds and Devices" in the Control Panel, then "Voice" tab, I'm presented with this screen (no "advanced" option for the mic):

When I select "Test hardware", I get these two screens too:

Playback on the mic seems to fail.

Does anyone have any ideas for a solution? I think I'm gonna have to return it if I can't solve this. I'd greatly appreciate any help you can give me!

Also, my PC specs are:
Intel C2D E6300
Gigabyte DS3 motherboard
2gb GeIL PC6400 RAM
ATi X1800XT
WinXP Sp2

Thanks guys. :) merry xmas too!
