x-fi only works sometimes

Ok so, i;; boot my pc, sound works, 5 mins later nothing. Mic still picks up though.

I reboot, all is fine...

This is REALLY starting to annoy me.
any help?

Resource conflict maybe. Try the card in a different PCI slot?

Sounds like the typical X-Fi problem- not detecting, sound not working. Is it crashing your machine also? Look on the Creative forums.

not crashing it anymore. Only when I click "dvd audio"

When it works its amazing, just annoying i have to reboot to make it work :x

Yup I'm using latest drivers (downloaded off site, seeemd to make it worse so using cd ones again with creative's autocearch driver update website tool)
Moved pci slot, no diff. Apart from its not bluescreening as much (it was in bottom slot)

Check the "Automatically mute speakers" option is not enabled on the Headphone Detection tab in the Audio Console.

same here

as squiffy says, check the creative forums...this is a major issue they cant seem to resolve. I had a similar problem with the Audigy and that was about 4 motherboards, 3 processors and 10 O/S rebuilds ago. I stuck with on-board sound for ages...you thought I would have learnt my lesson with Creative

I RMA'd mine and got a Terratec Aureon 7.1 PCI...mucho pleased

Creative are sh!te imho
