X-Fi Problem (drivers wont install) IRQ conflict?

Hi again,

I recently RMA'ed my X-Fi and recieved a brand new one. So I inserted the CD into the pc and started installing the drivers but I got the following error. (I have to say, that this was probably the moment my day started going downhill)

"Setup is unable to detect a supported product in your system...."

I then went and had a look at device manager and it is apparently listed as the following:

-Access bus controller
-Other PCI bridge device
-PCI gameport controller
-PCI memory controller
-SM Bus controller
-Different PCI slot

I have tried everything i can think of.
Latest NF4 drivers
latest 623 bios
formatted pc

Im hoping that there is a quick solution to this because i have recieved a new card which i think has the latest firmware on it so there is less conflict with nf4.

Any help would be much appreciated. The noise coming out of the AC97 onboard is begining to drive me slowly crazy.

Hi there, thanks for the quick response,

Yes i have removed all AC97 drivers and disabled it through BIOS. Should i bother taking it out completely? Tried differnet slot and then install etc. Still no luck. Also tried installing just the drivers and that stiil hasnt worked.

ok thanks a lot mate. and this 704 is ok for a sli-dr, last thing i want is a busted mobo over a 90 quid sound card?

Hi again

Just installed bios 702-bta and have now got the occasional sign saying multimedia device controller found when i get boot into windows. however i cannot install the driver and i get the same devices recognised in device manager. I think ive got somewhere but not quite got it yet.

Any suggestions? Maybe go the the bother of reformatting again? (As Arcane said)

Sorry im a bit of a noob in these areas - "and remove the to creative startup entries from your starup" - how do i do this?
