Having massive amounts of bad luck with soundcards in the past, I was wondering are Creative's range of X-Fi cards actually any good stability wise?
 
well after much decoding of the various xfi's out there, i went for the OEM music one (of the original three launch products). And apart from openal, and creative loading more dll's than the OS does :p, so far no problems.

any guides as to wtf all this creative stuff does? and do I really really need it?
