I've heard that the X-fi drivers load up around 6 processes at startup. In my opinion that is an awful lot for a sound card and was wondering if its possible to disable any of these without causing any problems?

Yeah this is depending on the software you install with it

I install the bare minimum, which is the drivers and volume controler panel. And i had 4 starting up:

CTHELPER - Can disable
CTXFIHLP - Can disable
VolPanel - Can choose not to start up if you want
CTXFISPI - Must leave enabled

Thanks for the reply! Is the volume control panel the thing that lets you change modes and configure each one? I've read CTXFISPI is for auto headphone detection, I guess this isn't necessary?

I have 19 services at startup (well after about a minute of idleness). If disabled the ati services (for 2d/3d mode) and my anti-virus I'd get down to 15.
