Hi there i have just purchased a x-fi extreme music edition to go with my newly upgraded asus p5b deluxe wifi mobo.

im upgrading from a audigy 2.

when i put the x-fi in windows wont boot it gets as far as the green scrolly thing "loading xp" then reboots or bsod.

if i put the audigy back in everything is fine.

i have tried the x-fi in my second pc and it works fine

anyone else getting getting this problem?

bios is latest one 1004 i think.

Hi mate,

Did you remove the old audigy software and drivers before installing the X-Fi. Also, are you putting it in the same PCI slot as the Audigy 2. If so, perhaps try a different one.

It sounds like it's trying to load in the drivers for the soundcard but conflicting because it's not the Auidgy it's now an X-Fi.

Try popping the other card back in, removing all drivers (try safe-mode as well). Then boot the PC with no soundcard, and then boot with the new card. :)
