Any reason why there are no decoding options on my X-Fi control panel? It has everything but this (eg Dolby digital EX etc).

My old X-fi had such a panel....

Last time I checked (which was, admittedly, ages ago) the Titanium's Vista drivers didn't support Dobly Digital decoding. Not sure if it was ever updated.

DDL License Activation - you should have this in the Creative folder within the Programs section, when you click start - needs to be activated, should have a product registration key labeled in the drivers/software disc cover you recieve in the box.

I have this option click on the creative panel, click settings, encoder - should be there.

Run the autoupdate and it should download the DD/DTS addon.

I have now got the encoding tab (downloaded DDL thing of creatives site), but its not ticking the box for me.

I used to be able to select DTS, Dolby digital EX etc without having to select a digital source.
Any ideas?
